Seattle hornist Josiah Boothby is a versatile musician, devoted to teaching, improvisation, and new music. He has studied the horn with teachers including Barney Blough, Jeffrey Snedeker, David Kappy, Rodger Burnett, and Dale Clevenger, and jazz theory and performance with Tom Varner, Marc Seales, Tom Gause, and Vern Sielert. A graduate of the University of Washington, Josiah is an active freelance musician, playing with various orchestras in the Seattle area as well as several chamber ensembles, while also teaching both privately and as a chamber music coach at the Academy of Music Northwest. As a soloist, Josiah has performed at the Warsaw Autumn Music Festival, with the Lake Union Civic Orchestra, the University of Washington Symphony Orchestra, and with the Garfield High School Orchestra.
